A play date with your Grandma and Grandpa is something special. My kids really look forward to their time with all of their Grandparents…probably because of the extra freedom! As it should be!
Our six year-old daughter came down stairs first thing in the morning dressed and ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. She came into the bathroom and asked me to fix her hair. While I was brushing it she was explaining to me that she had chosen the shirt, jacket and shoes because Grandma had given them to her. As I was getting ready to grab a pony tail holder she said, “use the green one because green in Grandma’s favorite color!”
I was touched to see how much effort she put into getting ready. She was really thinking about what had been given to her and wanted to show gratitude for the gifts by proudly wearing them.
I have heard the passage about God’s armor all my life. I am blessed that it is not a new concept for me but as I learn more and more about God I am blown away at how powerful the items He has given us truly are!
Do I purposely put on the armor of God knowing He will be with me? Do I put on my full armor with gratitude that He has given me such an amazing gift? I should.
I wonder what color pony tail holder would be His favorite.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:10-17, NIV)”
