I love this time of year!
The heat breaks and as my Mother-in-law always says, “THIS is what Arizona is all about!”
Last week, I excitedly took down the screens and cleaned the windows. I was headed for a women’s retreat and knew I would be happy to come home to clean windows letting the light shine in.
When I got home yesterday (after being gone for 2 days) I noticed my kids were happy and so was my man. I didn’t dare comment on the windows that were COVERED in some random substance clouding not only the view out but the light shining in.
It didn’t take long for my children to tell me the story. They were applying sunscreen to their bodies and decided to also “wash my windows” …with the suntan lotion.
Life happens and it clouds our view. Parenting is tough, finances crumble, friends grow apart, jobs get lost, people get sick, marriages are strained and children rebel. The random trials that happen to cloud the view of life are a substance that is not easy to deal with.
The good news? There is a redeemer, a window-washer of our souls. When we find ourselves in difficult seasons in life we have to turn to the only one who can help us survive the mess.
Then we must be willing to do the work. We may have to ask for forgiveness, we may have to forgive. We may need to love better or work harder, sit quiet or even let go.
What ever situation we face God is there to hold our hand and our heart as we walk through it. He can and will give us the confidence to overcome, if we are willing. Let’s be the kind of women who want to overcome, who are willing to do the hard work to have joy and to live in glory that God has planned for each of our lives.
Let’s chat with Him now, ask Him to help us wash our windows so His light can shine in on our lives so brightly that it lights up for all to see!
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1 NASB”
(By the way…this was the theme verse at our Women’s retreat this weekend!)
